Avalon Rathgeb first studied dance at her mother's dancing school - the Rathgeb School of Dance - and at the Totnes School of Dance. Between 2006 and 2009 she studied dance at Bird College in London and she later studied and danced professionally in the United Kingdom and the United States. She teaches or has taught at Bird College UK, and London's Pineapple Dance Studio. She founded and the Old Kent Road tap dance ensemble in 2014 and she has been a principle dancer with the Tapestry Ensemble in Austin Texas.
