Colton received a scholarship for a tap dance residency program in Wilhelmshaven, Germany in 2016. He trained there with Jason Janas, Jason Samuels Smith, and Sarah Reich.

Colton was selected to represent the United States in the Junior category at the 2018 IDO Tap Dance World Championships in Riesa, Germany. He competed in the "Junior Solo Male" and "Junior Formations" categories.
