Tap dancer Nicholas Van Young began his professional career performing with the Tapestry Dance Company in Austin, Texas under the direction of Acia Gray and Deidre Strand. He eventually became the ensemble's resident choreographer and one their principal dancers.

Nicholas is also the founder and director of the Sound Movement Dance Company and the Institute for the Rhythmic Arts.

He collaborated with Michelle Dorrance on two projects: "ETM: The Initial Approach" and "ETM: Double Down". He toured with "STOMP" for nearly ten years. He performed with several other professional dance companies including Manhattan Tap, RumbaTap, and Dorrance Dance,
