Moved to New York in 1991 where she studied tap dancing with Savion Glover and Barbara Duffy and danced in the street with Herbin Van Cayseele (aka Tamango). She moved to Germany in 1994 and also lived in Burkina Faso before returning to New York City in 1998.

Roxane Butterfly is the director of the Jimmy Slyde Institute tap dancing school in Barcelona and artistic director of Roxane Butterfly's WorldBeats, an ensemble of world music and dance performers that is based in both Barcelona and New York City. She has also danced with the all-female "BeauteeZN the Beat" tap ensemble and she has taught tap dancing at several new York dancing schools, including the Broadway Dance Center, Steps on Broadway, and Sarah Lawrence College.

Tap dancing school in in Barcelona, Spain, founded and directed by Roxane Butterfly. the school offers regularly scheduled classes and since 2012, three to four day summer and winter Barcelona Tap Intensives that are focused on technique, musicality, composition, and improvisation.
