Ruben Sanchez began his dance training at age 6 in Classical ballet, contemporary, jazz dance, and many other styles. He learned to tap dance by studying with international masters of tap dance that have included Barbara Duffy, Dereck Grant, Guillem Alonso, Jason Samuels Smith, Josh Hillbermann, Leela Petronio, Max Pollack, Sharon Lavi, and Ted Levi. He has performed with several tap ensembles and other dance companies, including Camet Band, Tapeplas Dance Company, Rachid Ourandame's Contemporary Dance Company and the Cambuyon Dance Company
