Apollo Chorus Line

information about career of professional tap dancing ensemble known as the Apollo Chorus Line.

The chorus line at the Apollo Theater in New York City was known as the "Apollo Theater Rockettes" when they first started performing in 1934. In 1940, when the chorus line was directed by Ristina Banks, its name was changed to the "Apollo #1 Chorus Line". The dancers were also sometimes referred to a the "Ristina banks Chorus Line".

The American Tap Dance Foundation inducted the Apollo #1 Chorus Line into the International Tap Dance Hall of Fame in 2016. The award was presented at the "Hoofer, Tap Preservation, and Tap Dance Hall of Fame" awards ceremony on July 12, 2016.
