About the Sachsen Arena
Known as the Erdgas Arena when it first opened in 2004. It was renamed the Saxony Arna after that sponsorship deal expired in 2012, and today it is known as the Sachsen Arena. The arena's capacity ranges from about 1,500 to 8,000 for seated events (depending on the set-up), and up to 13,000 for standing only events. The arena is situated in the center of a sports complex that also features an athletic stadium, the World Cup Sports Hall, a double bobsleigh track, a swimming pool and the Oluympia health, sports, and leisure center. Two of its most well-known events are ice hockey games and international dance championship competitions sanctioned by the International Dance Organization.
