Fred Astaire tap dancing in black face with three of his own shadows. The number is a tribute to Bill "Bojangles" Robinson and many of its tap steps are are tribute to Astaire's one-time tap dancing teacher John W. Bubbles, as is the suit Astaire is wearing (similar to a suit worn by bubbles in Porgy and Bess). Hermes Pan received the "Best Dnce Direction" Academy Award for the "Bojangles of Harlem" tap dance.
