The New Mexico Tap Dance Jam was a tap dancing event founded by Bill Evans in 1999 to bring world-class tap dancers together with local New Mexico dancers. Bill Evans was the head of dance for the University of New Mexico College of Fine Arts Department between. 1988 and 2004. The festival was later taken over by the NDI and that organization continued to produce and host the event until 2014.
