A Short History of Casimiro

A brief history of Casimiro, maker of Casimiro tap shoes other types of dancing shoes, and dancewear.

The current Casimiro director's grandfather, Casimiro Valldeperas Domenech, made pointe shoes for renowned Catalan classical dancer Joan Magrin, who was pleased to have his first pair of dancing shoes that were made in Spain.

Casimiro Valldeperas Domenech opened a shop on Arolas Street in Barcelona to supply dancing shoes for artists performing at the famous Music Hall of Barcelona and the Gran Theatre del Liceu, the latter of which was partially destroyed by a fire in January of 1994, and later restored.

Francisco Valldeperas Ribe, the son of Casimiro Valldeperas Domenech, continued the dance shoe making legacy of his father. He moved the shop to Joaquim Costa 57 Street in 1978 and began offering a wider variety of dancing shoes and dance supplies.

Today Cristina Valldeperas is the director of the Casimiro brand store.
